The JET 22-44ODS Oscillating Drum Sander Kit is a large bench machine that features a no-give power feed belt and an exclusive oscillating feature that makes quick work of material removal. The unit can be used as a linear sander, in which case the sander drum rotates as the conveyor feeds the wood through. When oscillation is switched on, the sanding drum oscillates from left to right, lowering heat build-up to reduce loading and burning.

The first review on Amazon is from January of 2009 and gave it four stars, mainly because in the demonstration video of the machine at work at the Atlanta International Woodworking Fair in 2008, a JET representative says
“claims that this sander delivers on the promise of having to do away with finish sanding after drum sanding. No way! In oscillation mode this sander will always leave some ripples in the wood.”
He did say you can put 80 or 120 grit in with oscillation in, run items through one at a time, and skip in between grits, moving straight to fine grits with oscillation off, and that the oscillation would save time and sandpaper.
One three star review had just unpacked the unit, and wrote purely to state that the promised digital read-out featured on the product write ups was not in fact what is included with this unit. It comes with a linear scale only. The reviewer also stated that it would take two weeks to get the sandpaper for the unit.
Two subsequent reviews are four star, citing easy drum height adjustment and effortless operation. One said,
